👋 Four Stanford CS majors with engineering experience at Facebook and Square came together to work on software for small business owners.
🔍 After conducting over 100 interviews with small business owners, they discovered a problem with restaurants in Palo Alto not being able to afford delivery despite the demand from consumers.
🚚 They built an initial product called Palo Alto Delivery to connect restaurants with spare-time delivery drivers, addressing the needs of both parties.
📱 DoorDash is an online ordering platform where customers can place orders on the website.
📦 Dispatchers use efficient routing and batching algorithms to send drivers to deliver orders quickly.
💰 In their first month, DoorDash generated over $10,000 in sales from 150 paying customers.
