This policy explains how ChatTube ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you use chattube.io, our browser extension, media tools, and the ChatTube MCP server and connected AI-client features. It covers information you provide, account and usage records, and public media data processed or returned through our services.
Account, billing, and device data
- Account information. When you create or use a ChatTube account, we process your name, email address, account identifier, registration date, and authentication information. Signing in through a connected identity provider may also provide your profile image and email-verification status.
- Billing and entitlements. We process your plan, subscription status, subscription start and renewal or next-payment dates, payment or redemption platform, transaction and subscription references, redemption history, AI credit balances, and credit usage. Payment providers handle checkout and payment-card details; the ChatTube account-profile tool does not return payment-card details.
- Device and usage information. Our website, extension, and infrastructure may process IP addresses, browser and operating-system information, referring pages, pages or features used, request times, response status, and error information. We use these details to operate the service, secure access, investigate problems, and measure usage and advertising effectiveness.
Content you use with ChatTube
- Media and generated content. We process the video or other media links you submit, associated metadata and transcripts, your questions and task instructions, and the answers, summaries, translations, or mind maps generated for you. Website and extension features may save this content and your ChatTube viewing or conversation history to your account so you can return to it.
- Support requests. If you contact us or submit a support form, we process the contact details, messages, attachments, and account or technical information you provide so we can respond.
ChatTube YouTube MCP and API requests
The ChatTube MCP server at https://chattube.io/mcp lets connected AI clients, including ChatGPT, request YouTube information and read the signed-in user's ChatTube account profile. Our website and extension also make API requests to provide their features.
For MCP calls, we receive the tool arguments the client sends and return the tool result to that client. Connecting ChatTube does not automatically give us access to the rest of your conversation with the AI client. The client provider handles the arguments and results it receives under its own privacy policy.
YouTube content tools use the arguments for the requested task and do not include your ChatTube account profile in their results. The separate get_profile tool reads only the authenticated ChatTube account; it does not accept another person's email address or account identifier as a lookup parameter.
- Tool inputs. Inputs include search terms; video, channel, playlist, or community-post identifiers and links; channel usernames or handles; pagination tokens; and requested languages, country or region codes, sorting, filters, and output options. These are used to retrieve the content requested by the tool call.
- OAuth connection information. When you authorize a connection, we process your ChatTube account identifier, the client identifier, granted permissions, authorization and token records, token hashes, and creation, expiry, use, and revocation timestamps. This supports account authentication, permission checks, token renewal, and revocation.
- ChatTube account information returned to your AI client. By default, get_profile returns only your current plan (currentPlan) and remaining AI credits (aiCredits). For an explicit account question, the client can select the fields needed to answer it: full name (fullName), email address (emailAddress), membership date (memberSince), current plan (currentPlan), subscription status (subscriptionStatus), subscription start date (subscriptionCreatedAt), next payment date (nextPaymentOn), subscription or redemption platform (platform), and remaining AI credits (aiCredits). Only the selected fields are returned; your name and email are requested only when you explicitly ask for those identity details. Unavailable or inapplicable selected details may be null. The returned information is sent to the connected client, including OpenAI when you use ChatGPT, to answer your question.
- Public YouTube content returned to your client. Results may contain video titles, descriptions, identifiers and links; thumbnails and screenshots; publication dates, durations and engagement counts; channel names, handles, identifiers, descriptions, profile images and links; playlist information; Shorts, livestreams and community posts; and comments or replies, including their text, identifiers, public author names, channel identifiers, profile images, publication times and engagement counts. Transcript results may include caption text, timed segments, languages and available track metadata. Subtitle-source URLs are used internally to retrieve captions and are omitted from MCP results.
- Nested result and response metadata. The same categories of public YouTube information may appear within nested video, author, channel, comment, playlist, or subtitle objects. Responses can also contain result counts, pagination tokens, language and region settings, and content-availability or processing status. Public author and commenter information relates to the people who published that content, who may be different from the ChatTube user making the request.
- Usage, errors, and diagnostics. We process account-linked credit balances and temporary credit-reservation records to meter successful calls. Server-side operational logs and debug or error records may contain tool or endpoint names, request parameters and identifiers, relevant account identifiers, timestamps, response status, error messages and stack traces. These records support troubleshooting, security and credit reconciliation. Our MCP tool handlers return general error messages when a request fails, rather than the server exception text or stack trace.
Data boundaries for ChatGPT and other MCP clients
Our MCP tool inputs are limited to the requested YouTube task. The account-profile tool takes no user-identifying input and uses the account linked through OAuth. The tools do not request the full conversation history, accumulated prior turns, or precise personal location such as a street address or GPS coordinates.
The MCP tools do not ask you to submit payment-card data, protected health information, government identification numbers, passwords, API keys, or one-time or multi-factor authentication codes. Do not put these details or other sensitive personal information in search terms, tool arguments, or support attachments. Complete account authentication on the ChatTube sign-in page and through the authorization flow, rather than sending credentials in a tool call.
Sensitive personal information is not needed for the stated MCP features. Public YouTube content can nevertheless contain personal information posted by its authors; its public availability does not make it non-personal. Only request content relevant to your task and take care before redistributing information about other people.
How we use your data
- Provide your requested features. Retrieve media information, search YouTube, analyze videos and comments, generate answers and other requested outputs, and make saved content available to you.
- Manage accounts and access. Sign you in, authorize connected clients, check subscriptions and entitlements, display account details when requested, and calculate credit usage.
- Maintain and protect the service. Handle support, investigate errors, prevent abuse and unauthorized access, reconcile billing or credit issues, and meet applicable legal obligations.
- Understand and improve usage. Measure website and feature activity, evaluate advertising performance, and improve reliability and usability.
Who receives your data
We share information with service providers that support authentication, hosting, storage, payment processing, public media retrieval, AI processing, security, analytics, advertising measurement, and customer support. The information sent depends on the task: for example, content-retrieval providers receive search terms or media identifiers, AI providers receive the task content needed to generate an answer, and payment providers process checkout and subscription information.
When you use a connected AI client, that client receives the tool results described above, including account-profile information when get_profile is invoked. Authorizing a client is different from making your account information public.
We may also disclose information at your direction, to comply with applicable law or valid legal requests, to investigate fraud or security incidents, or to protect rights and safety. External sites and client providers have their own privacy practices.
Cookies and similar technologies
ChatTube and its service providers use browser storage, cookies, scripts, and similar technologies for sign-in state, preferences such as language or theme, security checks, and feature operation. Our website also includes analytics and advertising-measurement scripts that may process page views, referral information, browser or device details, interactions, and related identifiers.
Website analytics and advertising scripts run when you visit website pages. MCP tool calls run on the server and do not execute those browser scripts. Account identifiers, request times, and related MCP operational records are processed for authentication, security, troubleshooting, and credit accounting as described above.
You can manage cookies and site storage in your browser, block scripts or tracking through browser privacy settings, and use controls offered by the relevant service provider. Blocking or clearing storage may sign you out, reset preferences, or prevent account, checkout, or security features from working.
Data retention
We retain production request, error, and diagnostic logs for up to 30 days from creation, then delete or anonymize them unless preservation is required by law. We complete account-deletion requests within 30 days after verifying your identity, except for records we are legally required to retain.
- Account and billing records. We retain account information while your account is active and delete it within 30 days after verifying an account-deletion request. Billing and transaction records required by law may be kept for the applicable accounting or tax retention period and used only for those obligations.
- Saved content. Conversations, generated outputs, and history saved to your account remain available until removed through the available product controls or a deletion request. We remove account-linked saved content within 30 days after verifying an account-deletion request, except where retention is required by law. Public transcripts and media metadata may be stored separately for reuse in content features.
- Connection and operational records. Authorization records support a connection until it expires or is revoked. We delete or anonymize historical authorization records within 30 days after expiry or revocation, unless retention is required by law. Request, error, and diagnostic logs follow the 30-day period above; account-linked support and credit-accounting records follow the account-deletion rules. Disconnection does not by itself delete your ChatTube account or saved content.
- Browser storage and other providers. Local preferences remain until you clear them or remove the relevant browser data. Information already received by a connected AI client, payment provider, or other independent service is subject to that provider's retention policy and deletion controls.
Security and international processing
We use access controls, authenticated connections, and other technical measures to protect the information we process. No transmission or storage method can guarantee absolute security.
Information may be processed in countries where we or our service providers operate. Applicable protections and legal requirements may differ from those in your home country.
Your rights and choices
You can contact us to request access to, correction of, export of, or deletion of your ChatTube account data. Depending on your location, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or raise a concern with a data-protection authority. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
- Control connected-client access. Disconnect ChatTube in ChatGPT or the other AI client to stop that client from making further requests through the connection. Contact us if you need assistance revoking authorization. Disconnection does not automatically delete information already returned to the client or stored in your ChatTube account.
- Control saved and local data. Use available history or conversation controls to remove saved content, and browser settings to clear local storage or cookies. You can sign out of or uninstall the extension; this does not by itself delete server-side account data.
- Choose what to provide. You may decline to create an account, connect an AI client, or submit particular information. Features that require that information may then be unavailable.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page and its last-updated date when our privacy practices change. Please review the policy when using a new feature or connecting a client.
